HWPL will start 2019 in full force by hosting a peace festival in the Philippines. “We are one for Peace to attain Sustainable Development” is the name of the event that will take place on February 8 at the Philippine Sports Stadium in Bulacan.
With over 30,000 expected to be in attendance, the event will bring together peace activists from all over the country. One of the organizers of the event, Dr. Ronald Adamat of VIP (Volunteer Individuals for Peace) is also Commissioner of the President’s Commission on Higher Education. The second organizer is Mr. Man Hee Lee, Chairman of HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light) who has traveled the world gaining large support for the DPCW (Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War)—which addresses principles of conflict resolution and international cooperation for peace building, such as prohibition of use of force, peaceful dispute settlement, and spreading a culture of peace through education and citizen activism.
The event will be the first to inaugurate a “Peace Room” in Paranaque City Public Library. This iconic room will house peace education materials and be used for special peace exhibits to inspire visitors daily. The organizers hope it will “inspire other libraries nationwide and globally to raise awareness of peace building to citizens.”
In 2018, Commissioner of Commission on Higher Education signed an MOU with HWPL to promote peace education throughout public colleges in the country. Today, peace education is integrated in all higher education Institutions nation wide—a monumental accomplishment that we hope to see catch on globally.
